My Website Is Fixed!

While messing with search engine optimization, I realized I have been completely sabotaging this website for months. What you see now is roughly what I have seen since August. Since it looks nice on my end, I have slowly been telling friends, family, and employers of its existence. I’ve been wondering why I got no feedback. To my horror, I realized it’s because they have been seeing an absolutely embarrassing version of my website.

When I initially created this website, I coded every single element from scratch as a personal challenge. This was kind of painstaking, and it took all my attention away from the content of the site. The website did not look particularly great, and all the content was sloppy. Writings were very poorly done and posted just as a proof of concept. Every file was extremely out of date and I did not bother updating most things because they were never intended to be seen by anybody but me.

Since I quit my job, I’ve overhauled every single part of the website. Today, I looked up my website on the library’s computer to see how it appears on another device. I was shocked to see my crappy proof of concept website pop up. I looked through my website’s directory and realized I did not properly unlink the old files. The hideous old files were overriding most of this current version so my family, friends, and potential employers all definitely scoffed at it. I’m pretty embarrassed, but at least I caught the issue today. It is kind of funny, but I do wonder if any potential employer saw my website and went “yea no thanks”.
